Gwen Stefani: Fashion Icon

An article about gwen stefani's fashion sense.

Gwen Stefani is a fashion idol while maintaining her music diva status. She has been turning heads since her days in No Doubt. When Gwen decided to focus on her solo career, her style elevated her new found music direction. Gwen has taken her love for fashion and turned into another successful aspect of her booming industry. She also has successful frangrances lines as well. Before Lady Gaga or even Kei$ha there was diva extrodinare, Gwen Stefani. She first taught pop culture about the value being a girl and now her style reflects a grown women with edge and maturity. She makes being a wife, mother, singer, and fashion designer at the age of 41, seem like a piece of cake, and for Gwen it appears to be. Fans and artists half her age want to look and dress like the fashion forward performer. Fashion's elite have taken notice of Gwen Stefani's enormous influence and wish to dress her for any event she attends. The successful Lamb line has even the top designers taking notice and giving her props. Many singers try their hand at a fashion line, and they tend to fail but Gwen Stefani is thriving.

She mixes urban street with Alice and Wonderland sheek. This video is the beginning of her love for Japanese influences came to light. The film was light years ahead of its time, with pop stars today embracing Stefani fashion.  The make-up in this video reminds me of the 80's cartoon series, Jem. The fashion was crazy top hats, and couture dresses added with funky stilettos. Red lipstick against Gwen's pale skin has always been her makeup trademark. She added to the trend of also wearing black nail polish that was really popular a few short years ago. Gloves that are black also complete this Alice and Wonderland look.

Early Winter is another fashion inspiring music video. Her hair always reminds me of old Hollywood. Her hair in this video reminds me of Marilyn Monroe. Her makeup seems to be dark, thicker mascara paying homage to the pinup girls in the past. Her eye makeup strikes more towards that road than the Avril Lavigne punk glam look that she went for in her early star days. Her main fashion palet in this short film is black and white colors. The white reprensenting the wedding dress and the black seems to represent her current state in the relationship.
